I always need a crafty hobby for my mental health, it is usually junk journaling or crochet but once in a while I venture out to try new things like embroidery or baking !
love this so much! coloring, watching movies, reading, writing, barre, walking, and drawing have been filling up my days. but im either trying to do them all or not doing them at all haha.
I’ve always been obsessed with activity books (crosswords, word searches, sticker by number), but I never actually considered it a hobby. After reading this I realize it’s something low key, mind active, and enjoyable, and totally is a hobby!
I can relate to feeling pressured to be good at something that started as a hobby, just because people see some potential on the way you do it. It’s been years since I hade genuine hobby, and I’ve been longing for it :) I really enjoyed reading your piece :)
I’m a huge hobby girl, Iv just started learning to sew and I like gardening and painting and drawing but I tend to be a little harsh on myself when I’m not as good as I feel I should be but need to remember to find the joy and not perfection!
This is really good advice, hobbies are the key to so many new experiences. As someone who took up two hobbies simultaneously (karate & guitar) I can not begin to explain how it changed all aspects of my life, from becoming more confident at school, having more coordination and concentration, to becoming more athletic and more easy-going. This decision is the best I've ever made, and honestly the one which has made me not feel like an useless slob.
I recently started drawing! I'm not the greatest at it but I stick to the basics and it makes me feel so connected to my inner child. I draw on my tablet, in an app called Sketchbook which really works for me, hopefully for any of you too ♡
Love! I started tennis last year and I'm loving it even though I'm not the best it's just fun to get out socialise and play. Next is to find an off screen creative hobby
if you find yourself not having enough tiem, structured is a great app. its great because you find that you have a lot more time on your hands especially if you doom scroll.
crocheting is an amazing hobby! super fun and times goes like this

This is what I needed to see today. Especially after feeling the urge to delete my social media and live in the present.
Yes yes yes! Just wrote a piece about my hobby collage and particularly why doing things with your HANDS is so therapeutic. https://open.substack.com/pub/sophiemulgrew/p/go-make-something-with-your-hands?r=1r5fos&utm_medium=ios
I read, I’m in a choir, and I’m about to start learning piano!
